The use of geophysical data with geomechanical modeling of oil and gas fields  05.05.2016 13:03

The process of drilling and production of oil and gas cause changes in the stress state of the productive formation and surrounding rocks. Properties of rocks change in the sequence of lithological complexes, and each type of rock responds differently to the voltage changes. Exploration and mining companies need to understand the relationship between petrophysical rock properties, reservoir pressure, temperature and other conditions, and the key to this understanding is the geomechanical modeling.

This technology is widely used today in geological prospecting and development of oil and gas fields. This kind of simulation is carried out using modern high performance computing technologies, which are based on high-performance computing. In the oil and gas industry geomechanical modeling in the process of drilling wells significantly increases the efficiency of exploitation by reducing costs, reducing risk when drilling and developing wells.

The use of geomechanical modeling allows to obtain the optimal trajectory of the borehole, an optimum range of density of the drilling rig washing liquid, ESP and EDS) to determine the optimal depth of descent of the casing, to define the profiles of the pressures and the intervals of instability the stability of the borehole wall.

High performance computing High Performance Computing (HPC)

All leading international oil and gas industry leaders have been working on the development and implementation of high performance computing, without which the unthinkable future of oil and gas companies. It is expressed primarily in the implementation in practice in the form of various concepts of information support of process of construction of wells and production of hydrocarbons, in which all participants in the process of development and exploitation work in a single information space.

High performance computing High Performance Computing (HPC) is a branch of applied computing that focuses on finding solutions to problems that require large amount of computing resources. Today, domestic innovation, based on high performance computing, attracted the attention of leading oil and gas companies in the country, considering the possibility of their practical use.
